Gone....But Not Forgotten

Gone But Not Forgotten

Monica Smith

Monica Smith was a W.O.W. board member. Monica was brilliant, she had two Master’s Degrees, had a blog column, was working on her book, ran the Ms. Wheelchair Michigan competition for 5 years and ran her own transportation company in Battle Creek, Michigan. Gone too soon…

Gone But Not Forgotten

Jerome Jackson

Jerome Jackson fought long and hard to remain in his own home that had been modified just for him. Jerome was our housing liaison and together we planned the design for a housing project with units just for wheelchair user, hearing & visually impaired. We had meetings with Architects and a Grant Writer in preparation to make this dream a reality. I pray in Jerome’s memory, that this dream becomes a reality. Love you Jerome. R.I.P. Not ever forgotten!

Gone But Not Forgotten

David Phillips

David Phillips AKA Disco Dave, was a joy to be around. Always comical and loving. Dave participated in the 1st Ghost rider program, monitoring the treatment of wheelchair riders by the DDOT bus drivers. David was very independent, living alone, he cooked for himself and drove his own truck. David will probably be most remember for his ability to dance. David loved to dance and his moves always amazed everyone, regularly dancing at public events. RIP my friend. Missing you.

Gone But Not Forgotten

Carol Jameel

Carol Jameel was a faithful dues paying member. She supported the organization even though her illness prevented her regular attendance. I miss you my sister.

Gone But Not Forgotten

George Greene, Sr.

George Greene, Sr. started his own non-profit organization for people who are visually impaired called: “Sight Unseen”. George was selfless and made sure he got the job done. Very resourceful, George opened lots of doors for donations and in-kind services to our organization. Thanks for your friendship.
